Music on hold
Music on hold is the music or recorded messages a phone system plays to callers while they wait — on hold, in a queue or while a team is being rung.
Music on hold or ringback tone?
- A ringback tone is the familiar ringing sound a caller hears while the other side's phone is ringing. It tells the caller the call is going through.
- Music on hold replaces that sound with music or messages. It suits longer waits, such as a call queue, and can be used to share useful information — opening hours, a website address, or a note that calls may be recorded.
Silence is the worst option: callers who hear nothing often think the call has dropped and hang up.
Music on hold in phone.systems™
In phone.systems™ the hold audio for Queue and Ring Group objects is chosen per object: either a ringback tone or a music-on-hold playlist. Playlists are built in Audio Files from uploaded audio (up to 14 MB per file), recordings made in the browser, or text-to-speech messages of up to 250 characters.
